Funerals

When someone dies often the family are left wondering what to do next about the funeral.  Arranging a funeral at the church or a crematorium is one area where we can help, alongside the Funeral Director who will make all the arrangements needed.

The Vicar will be glad to speak with you about music, prayers, readings, tributes and the order of service. The Church of England Funeral Service is fairly formal, with room for personal choices of readings, tributes and particular hymns or other music. Our Director of Music will be glad to advise you about what music is most appropriate and can provide a choir or other musicians as requested. He can talk to you about the costs involved including the supplemental recording fee should you choose to live stream the service to people unable to attend.

A memorial service later on can be more of a celebration or thanksgiving, can involve other music and readings to reflect the person’s life. We are happy to talk to you this as well.

Some people find it helpful to plan their funeral in advance, so that their next of kin is able to arrange the service knowing that their wishes are being followed. This might include making a funeral plan with a Funeral Director, but it can also include choosing hymns, music to be played, readings etc.  If you would like to begin that process, do speak.
